PIA of Oregon Testifies: Include Agents in Health Insurance Exchange

PIA of Oregon is testifying on June 8 before the Oregon Health Policy Board, urging that licensed professional insurance agents be included in the new health insurance exchange the state is forming to comply with the new federal healthcare law.

In a letter to the board, PIA of Oregon notes “It makes complete sense to use the already established, best-trained outreach force available: the existing field staff of highly trained and motivated insurance producers.  By making good use of Oregon’s agents, there will be greater penetration into the market in a shorter period of time with fewer errors in communication and processing.” The letter was also signed by the Oregon chapter of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAFIA) and the Oregon Association of Health Underwriters, who also joined PIA in testifying.
