PIA, NCOIL Urge Congress to Ensure Agents Are Included in Healthcare Reform

The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) has sent Congress a resolution it recently passed recognizing the importance of licensed, professional insurance agents and brokers to the U.S. healthcare system. PIA National assisted with the distribution of the resolution, at the request of NCOIL.

“The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) would like you to keep one thing in mind: licensed, professional insurance agents are part of the solution,” said PIA’s message accompanying the NCOIL resolution.

“Consumers in your district will be faced with a new, broad array of choices. Now, more than ever, they will need the expertise of licensed professionals who are qualified to help them navigate these new choices, so they can make informed decisions.”

“State legislators from across the nation who are members of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) recently passed a resolution that recognizes the important role played by licensed insurance agents and brokers in the U.S. healthcare system and supports their right to enroll consumers in any health insurance plan. We would like to share a copy of this resolution with you.”

“America’s licensed Main Street insurance agents and brokers stand ready to continue providing the professional service that health care consumers have relied upon for decades, as our healthcare system continues to evolve. In your final deliberations on this issue, we ask that you support the continued involvement of licensed, professional Main Street insurance agents and brokers in enrolling consumers in the health plan of their choice.”
