PIA of Kansas Members Help Town Destroyed by Killer Tornado

Members of PIA of Kansas rushed to what was once the small town of Greensburg, Kansas, doing whatever they could to help survivors of the category F-5 tornado that flattened the town. The May 4 tornado destroyed 95% of the farm town of 1,400. It obliterated Main Street and flattened residential neighborhoods, killing at least nine people and leveling or damaging most buildings, including a PIA member agency.

Several PIA Member agents have been assisting in the recovery efforts. PIA Member Brad Musgrove said the priority is getting the rights of way in the town cleared. Brad said dump trucks and loaders from surrounding counties have offered the homeowners their assistance free of charge, once they get the OK from authorities to start helping homeowners clear their property.
