PIA, Florida Insurance Council Slate Panel on Natural Disasters

PIA and the Florida Insurance Council (FIC) have joined forces to bring together a panel of high-level leaders who are directly involved with insurance issues as they relate to insuring for natural catastrophes.

PIA National, PIA of Florida and PIA of Louisiana, together with the FIC, are sponsoring a panel entitled “Government and Insurance Markets: Achieving the Balance.” It will be held on June 26, 2007 in conjunction with the Florida Insurance Council’s 2007 Annual Conference at the Marriott Hotel in Marco Island, Florida. The purpose is to help better define problems and work toward viable solutions.

The day-long session will consist of two panels comprised of leaders in key positions in government at the federal and state level along with insurance industry leaders with national influence. They will discuss issues related to natural disasters, their impact and aftermath, focusing on insurance.

“Natural disasters are creating new and unique challenges for the insurance industry almost on a daily basis,” said PIA National President-elect Robert Page. “Government is seeking practical political solutions, while the insurance industry is seeking practical economic solutions. Both need to come together to craft common sense solutions for the benefit of taxpayers, carriers and policyholders.”
