NAIC Unveils New Fraud Fighting Web Site

On March 28, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) introduced www.InsureUonline.org, a new Web site that allows consumers to determine whether an insurance quote comes from a legitimate insurer.  Alessandro Iuppa, NAIC president, said that the free service provides links to state insurance departments and their databases so that consumers can readily check whether a company is licensed to sell insurance in their state.

Iuppa said that insurance fraud is an increasing problem, particularly with illegitimate health insurance policies and discount cards for medical care that are improperly marketed as health insurance becoming more common.
