MetLife to Include ID Theft Policy Enhancement

MetLife Auto & Home has announced that it will be the first homeowners insurer in the U.S. to include identity theft resolution services on all its standard renters, condominium, and homeowners policies. The company will begin rolling out this policy enhancement on a state-by-state basis in the upcoming months. The service will help victims to notify the appropriate authorities, track and monitor their credit files, and work with grantors of credit until the problem is resolved. MetLife says the coverage differs substantially from the typical expense reimbursement coverage that some insurers offer to victims - either built in to some high-end homeowners policies or purchased for an additional premium. With the new product, there is no additional premium for the service and no deductible to pay.
