Pennsylvania Seeks to Ban Lender for Allegedly Violating State Do-Not-Call Law

On September 30, Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher asked a state court to permanently ban Liberty One Financial, Inc. from doing business in the state, claiming the Philadelphia-based mortgage lender had violated a state Do Not Call law. In a statement, Fisher said Liberty One illegally contacted Pennsylvania consumers by telephone to sell them mortgages and brokerage services. He said the lender's actions violated the Pennsylvania Telemarketer Registration Act and Consumer Protection Law. Responding in a statement, Liberty One Corporate Counsel Neil Erlichman denied Fisher's allegations. "Any allegation of a 'blatant disregard of the law' is unfounded and a complete inaccuracy of the facts," Erlichman said in the statement quoted by the Bureau of National Affairs.
