PIA National to Participate in NAIC, NCOIL Meetings

PIA National will be involved when the National Association of Insurance Commissioners meets from June 1-4 and the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) meets from July 19-22.

PIA will be addressing several issues of importance to our members at both meetings. The issue of certain settlement agreements and their provisions related to contingent compensation and disclosure will be at the forefront when both organizations meet.

In addition, PIA will be working to encourage the NAIC to abide by its own open meetings policy. PIA’s Regulatory Affairs Committee passed a resolution at their latest meeting in March calling on the NAIC to live up to their transparency commitments and a letter has been sent to the NAIC’s leadership.

NCOIL will be addressing contingent compensation as well by holding a panel discussion on the use of settlements as public policymaking instruments. PIA National Vice President/Treasurer Ken Auerbach will participate on the panel.
