PIA Opposes National Commission on State Workers’ Compensation Laws Act of 2009

PIA National is opposed to H.R. 635, the “National Commission on State Workers’ Compensation Laws Act of 2009.” The bill would create a commission tasked with reviewing the recommendations from a past commission and evaluating current state workers’ compensation laws to determine their adequacy, and whether additional remedies should be made available.

What It Means to Agents:  There is no need for this bill. Workers’ compensation falls under the authority of the states. Congress should not interfere in the state-based workers’ compensation system, which is functioning well. This is a waste of time and money.
