PIA National has issued a summary analysis of the draft model on compensation disclosure that was adopted on March 5, 2005 by the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL). The NCOIL model on broker disclosure is a positive approach that concentrates on areas where conflicts of interest have been demonstrated to exist, and avoids causing problems where they do not. PIA is encouraged by the NCOIL model amendment. It is a significant improvement over the model that was passed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which PIA opposes.
