As the first direct response to PIA meeting with RMA Administrator Ross Davidson, RMA issued a statement explaining the law pertaining to rebating in the federal crop insurance program.

As PIA has advised before, this issue, as well as issues concerning group entities in federal crop programs, is subject to the review and action/decision of state insurance departments.

What this means to agents:  Future federal crop insurance concerns may not necessarily be resolved by the federal government. This is a signal to state insurance departments that they too are being expected to play a role. Working with PIA members and affiliates, PIA National will continue to help improve the practices of the Congress/federal agency/state insurance department oversight of federal crop insurance.
