The Crop Insurance Research Bureau (CIRB), a national trade association made up of crop insurance providers and related organizations who provide a variety of insurance products for our nation's farmers, has noted PIA's ongoing talks with the USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA) on the burley tobacco issue. PIA has asked RMA to leave the sales closing date for Spring 2005 contracts for burley tobacco open, due to the inability of county offices of the USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) to provide farmers with the data they need to secure an accurate valuation of their crops.
