An opinion article by PIA that makes the case against removing agents from crop insurance was published May 3 in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Gazette, May 6 in the Grand Forks, North Dakota Herald and May 8 in the Des Moines Register. Guest columnist Mike Becker of PIA National takes on the union that represents federal employees of the Farm Service Agency (FSA). The union is actively lobbying to have private sector crop insurance agents removed from the delivery of crop insurance. Becker points out that “turning the clock back three decades to a time when federal government employees were in charge would lead to greater efficiency and better customer service to farmers strain credibility and conflict with the facts.”
