Less than two months after the PIA Federal Legislative Summit, members of the PIA National Crop Insurance Working Group are back in Washington, D.C. for another round of meetings.

Steve Becher, Larry McGillis and Kent Olson will join agents, CEOs and crop insurance industry supporters from around the nation during the American Association of Crop Insurers (AACI) Agent Advisory Washington Spring Conference. The three day event begins May 14 with meetings on Capitol Hill with farm organizations and commodity groups.

“We want to hear their concerns regarding crop insurance and the proposed Farm Bill,” says McGillis. While the group is in D.C., the House will be holding hearings on crop insurance. Meetings are scheduled with national lenders, RMA Director Bill Murphy & staff, and several key Congressmen including House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson (D-Minn.). “What’s important with these meetings is that we get to meet and discuss issues with the Congressional and Committee aides who are on the ground floor of proposed legislation,” according to Becher.
