The members of the Flood Insurance National Committee (FIPNC) met in the offices of PIA National on Monday, July 28. PIA National is a founding member of FIPNC and PIA member Rita Hollada of Selbyville, Delaware serves as the committee Vice Chairman.

The committee was joined by representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Flood Insurance Mitigation Administration (FIMA) to discuss critical issues facing the flood insurance industry.

Detailed discussion on the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was a main concern for both FEMA and members of FIPNC. All groups agreed that reauthorization before Congress adjourns for the year is of the utmost importance.

FEMA requested the assistance from FIPNC members on various committees. Rita Hollada will serve on the committee to evaluate new elevation certificate guidelines.

Other members of FIPNC include the Coalition of Exclusive Agent Associations (CEAA), the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) Flood Committee, the Flood Insurance Servicing Companies Association of America (FISCAA), the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), the Write Your Own (WYO) Marketing Committee and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA).

What It Means to Agents: FIPNC is agents' voice to the federal people that run the National Flood Insurance Program. Please share your questions and ideas about what will make the federal flood program a better program for you and your customers. Your PIA FIPNC representatives will respond and send that message to FEMA/FIMA.
