FEMA Grants Limited Single Adjuster Program Waiver for WYOs

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has been granted and is extending to WYOs a specific and limited waiver to the WYOs participating in the Single-Adjuster Program
August 23, 2012

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has been granted and is extending to WYOs a specific and limited waiver to the WYOs participating in the Single-Adjuster Program. This makes formal the previous emergency permission waiver that NFIP granted WYOs during the FY 2011 catastrophe losses across the country. This waiver recognizes and is not intended to interfere with any multi-carrier, association or wind-pool arrangements or agreements that WYOs may have in place for wind events. This begins to set the procedures by which the wind vs. water claims response from FEAM/NFIP claims will ultimately be further revised. This is important for PIA affiliates and members that are most familiar with the coordinated wind-NFIP claims adjuster programs and processes of the past and begins to answer some of the questions that arose from the formal state Wind Pool and Property Residual Market structures as to FEMA/NFIP water vs. wind claims resolution.
