PIA Grassroots Action Alert! “Flood the Hill!”
On Tuesday May 8, PIA launched a nationwide grassroots action campaign. We are asking all PIA members to “Flood the Hill” by contacting their U.S. Senators to urge them to get the NFIP extension to the Senate floor for a vote. The flood insurance program faces a May 31 expiration unless Congress passes an extension.
Agents may have become accustomed to short term extensions but now there is an opportunity to achieve a multi-year extension this month and Congress needs to hear from you to push the bill to the finish line. Click here to contact Congress now: http://www.pianet.com/alert1
We are asking all PIA members to “Flood the Hill” by contacting their U.S. Senators to urge them to get the NFIP extension to the Senate floor for a vote.
The House previously passed H.R. 1309 and the Senate Banking Committee has already marked-up S. 1940, both which will provide a 5 year extension for the flood program.
PIA is conducting this grassroots campaign in conjunction with many organizations, both inside and outside our industry. The coalition includes the National Association of Realtors, the National Wildlife Federation, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Nature Conservancy, the Consumer Bankers Association, and the American Land Title Association. The insurance industry is represented by the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), the Reinsurance Association of America and PIA.
