The NAIC’s Transparency and Readability of Consumer Information Working Group, chaired by Angela Nelson from the Missouri Department of Insurance, is looking at ways to help consumers shop for insurance. PIA National’s Secretary/Assistant Treasurer Richie Clements testified before the group during their recent meeting in New Orleans, offering to help regulators in their effort. The NAIC Working Group is taking a look at possibly updating or enhancing their Consumer’s Guide to Homeowners Insurance to include a series of questions consumers should have available to ask their agent. We support the NAIC’s effort to educate consumers and we look forward to working with the regulators, consumer groups, insurers and other interested parties to make sure consumers are empowered to make the best decisions regarding managing their risk.
