PIA has submitted testimony for a congressional hearing on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). On Tuesday January 12, the U.S. House Financial Services subcommittee on Housing and Insurance will hold a hearing entitled, “Opportunities and Challenges Facing the National Flood Insurance Program.”

The hearing before the U.S. House Financial Services subcommittee on Housing and Insurance is entitled, “Opportunities and Challenges Facing the National Flood Insurance Program.” In our testimony, PIA encourages Congress to work toward a long-term reauthorization of the program when it expires in 2017, and move gradually to risk-based rates. PIA also urges Congress to incentivize policyholders to mitigate their homes and to expand the private flood insurance market. PIA’s full testimony can be read here.
