PIA has responded to an article written by seven consumer activists who are funded by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The consumer activists' article was published in Kaiser Health News, which is a principal news source for policymakers and reporters covering healthcare issues. PIA authored a rebuttal article, which you can read here.

The consumer activists characterized compensation to licensed agents and brokers under the new healthcare law as "unnecessary administrative expenses" and that excluding their fees from the calculation of medical loss ratios (MLR) would "dilute the law's efforts … to empower consumers to make informed decisions when choosing a health plan."

PIA National's rebuttal article was published in Kaiser Health News on May 26.
