Days before the Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling on health care, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) will hold a meeting to discuss ongoing efforts to implement health reform in the states. The NAIC Health Insurance and Managed Care Committee, led by Commissioner Sandy Praeger (KS), will meet in Washington, D.C. June 26-27. The regulators will discuss several issues including exchanges, navigators, anti-fraud efforts and essential benefits. PIA will participate in these meetings and continue to advocate for consumers’ ability to access licensed, trained health insurance professionals to help them make informed decisions.

“Our goal is to advance a number of policy matters through the committee process so there is adequate time for interested parties to weigh in and the full membership to review prior to the NAIC summer national meeting in August,” said Kevin M. McCarty, NAIC President and Florida Insurance Commissioner. “While the future of the Affordable Care Act has yet to be determined, the NAIC remains committed to helping states deal with the implementation issues.”
