Six months after announcing that it would market auto insurance in its stores, Walmart has announced that it will do the same with health insurance. It is teaming with DirectHealth.com, a unit of TZ Insurance Solutions, the same entity that is offering auto insurance through Walmart. This past spring, Walmart announced that it would begin to market auto insurance in its stores.

"Buying any kind of insurance through a local, independent insurance agent whose only business is insurance is much better than doing it through Walmart or any other discount retailer," said PIA National Executive Vice President & CEO Mike Becker. "Professional independent insurance agents can shop many different insurance companies. They are also uniquely qualified to provide consumers with expert advice on obtaining their choice of coverage and price. You can't get that kind of service from a kiosk."
