PIA recently provided comments to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) concerning its draft 2017 Letter to issuers in the Federally-facilitated Marketplaces (FFMs).  PIA expressed concern about both the definition of fraudulent or abusive conduct as it is to be applied to agent and broker conduct, as well as the due process and method of appeal afforded to agents and brokers accused of such misdeeds.  We also expressed concern about undervaluing the services provided by agents and brokers by requiring that their websites include certain disclaimers and links to federal sites.  PIA’s comments can be read here.

PIA will continue to advocate for agents and brokers and will continue to monitor CCIIO and CMS activities as they pertain to the state exchanges.
