Dozens of state insurance regulators descended on Congress over the past week asking lawmakers to preserve state regulation as they work to limit systemic risk in the insurance industry. Regulators say there may be a role for the federal government to play, but it should reinforce the work being done by state-level officials. "Any reform framework must integrate, but not displace our current state-based system of insurance regulation," said NAIC CEO Therese M. "Terri" Vaughan, Ph.D.
