Christopher J. Swift, Hartford's new Chief Executive Officer, said new capital standards driven by international and national regulators may be a solution in search of a problem as the state regulatory framework has worked well for the industry.

In an interview with A.M. BestTV, Swift said, "If solvency gets bifurcated to others around the world or others in Washington, I'm not sure what that means for our state regulatory activities." Swift also said the new Congress is off to a good start. "I'm glad we got TRIA done here with the new Congress. Kudos to them to come together, it would be the first thing that the new Congress in 2015 implemented and the President signed. That's good." View the video version of this interview here.
