Members of the PIA-Company Council of Executive Officers (PIA-CCEO) were briefed on a conference call by the three executive vice presidents of PIA of Louisiana, PIA of Mississippi and PIA of Alabama  -- Jody Boudreaux, Ann Sturdivant and Perry McCain, respectively. In addition, PIA National Treasurer Robert Page of Houma, Louisiana participated in the telephone conference with the PIA-CCEO during the September 8 meeting in Portland, Oregon.

Jody Boudreaux provided an update on the previous day's Louisiana insurance summit in Atlanta (see previous item). Robert Page reported on conditions on the ground in Louisiana. Page said that insurance carriers and consumers still needed to be made aware of the fact that 1-800 numbers were still not working in most of Louisiana, and that all should provide non-800 numbers for claims. He requested that PIA National prepare a public service announcement mentioning the problem with 1-800 access, and also directing people to the PIA of Louisiana web site. PIA National staff produced the announcement and distributed it to media outlets later that day.

Page also reported that most of the larger insurance agencies are now up-and-running; that some agents lost their agency backup tapes when their cars were flooded and needed client lists from carriers; and that hundreds of non-PIA customers are being assisted at the PIA of Louisiana office in Baton Rouge. Three days later, Robert Page also spoke to the PIA National Board of Directors in Portland via a telephone hookup from Houma.
