The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has called on U.S. residents who live along American coastlines to consider seriously the threat of tsunamis since the disaster in Japan. The United States has more coastline than any other country in the world and proximity to several major fault lines. NOAA's National Weather Service says that tsunami survival depends on staying informed and moving quickly to higher ground when there is a threat. March 20-26 wasdesignated National Tsunami Awareness Week to remind Americans to get prepared now, before a disaster occurs.
