According to a recent opinion piece from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, even though lawmakers remain focused on avoiding the fiscal cliff, they should not forget to provide aid to the Northeast, which was devastated by damage from Superstorm Sandy. They note, “The request for $60 billion was diligently assembled based on conservative estimates of our states’ needs and is in line with supplemental appropriations approved after previous disasters for other areas.”
