Kiplinger is out with a list of the 10 states most vulnerable to severe weather, based on property losses from disasters over the past decade, as calculated by the Property Claim Services unit of Verisk Analytics. The states are: Louisiana ($32.4 billion in estimated insured property losses); Florida ($31.6 billion); Texas ($26.7 billion); Mississippi ($14.9 billion); New York ($13.3 billion); New Jersey ($8.9 billion); Alabama ($8.1 billion); Tennessee ($7.7 billion); Oklahoma ($7.3 billion); and Missouri ($7.3 billion). Examples of disasters that affected each state are provided in a slide show.
