Over the next several months, PIA will be working with our affiliates in each state to assess the regulatory and legislative changes that may be necessary to modernize the producer licensing system.

NAIC President Elect, Roger Sevigny (NH) is spearheading the effort. Regulators will be partnered with industry representatives to review the states' uniformity and reciprocity mandates as set forth in the Producer Licensing Model Act (PLMA). Our members will be serving a valuable role in this effort, as we are calling on you to contact your departments to make them aware of this program and that we are willing to assist them in making the necessary improvements to producer licensing.

A valuable tool in this modernization effort will be the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). We are urging our insurance departments to embrace this technology that will make producer licensing a "one stop shopping" experience.  Please keep and eye out for further updates as we work through this process and contact us if you have any questions or to report on progress, or lack thereof, in your state.
