PIA is continuing to work with PIA affiliates in each state as part of the NAIC's Producer Licensing State Outreach project. The NAIC's Producer Licensing Assessment Teams have been effective in communicating the need for modernization and getting commitments to move toward uniformity and reciprocity in producer licensing nationwide. To date, two rounds of calls have taken place for each state. The first call established the priority items for each state. The second call, with the state DOI, works through these issues and in all cases we have made good progress.

By streamlining our licensing system using modern electronic databases, such as NIPR, departments will be able to focus their resources on other pressing needs while still affording maximum consumer protection.  We thank all of our departments for getting on board with this vital process. We would also like to thank the PIA affiliates who have been so helpful on these calls. We will be speaking next with Puerto Rico, Mississippi and Missouri in the next couple of weeks. We have already held successful calls with KY, OK, ND, NY, NC, PA, NE,  and AZ.
