As we've been reporting for a few months now, PIA is participating in the NAIC's Producer Licensing State Outreach project and have now completed several calls with state insurance departments. Every department we spoke with is in the process of making changes to improve our licensing system. Several states have eliminated, or are in the process of eliminating, the secretary of state requirments and they are also working to reduce the number of unique limited lines. Several of these changes are being made by the department, yet some changes must be made by the legislature. In these cases, our local PIA affiliates are working with the department to put together legislation to keep on track with our modernization goals. We just completed calls with Nebraska, North Carolina and Michigan, among several others. All of these states are showing great progress. We will soon be holding calls with New York and Maryland. Every department we are working with has been receptive to the suggestions made by the reveiw teams. We thank all of our departments for getting on board with this vital process.
