Lawmakers in Florida have reached an agreement with Governor Jeb Bush limiting doctor's liability in medical malpractice cases to $500,000 for non-economic damages in most cases. Victims could collect as much as $1 million by suing multiple doctors and $1.5 million by suing health-care facilities. The agreement prompted Bush to call the Florida Legislature into a special session set for August 12 to address the medical malpractice issue.
