On June 12, 2003 the House passed a bill designed to put the breaks on class action lawsuits. The vote was 253-170. Under the legislation, a class action suit would move to federal court if it involves plaintiffs from multiple states and the stakes involved exceed $5 million. Federal courts are considered generally less sympathetic to class action lawsuits than are state courts. More
