The reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) helped create favorable terrorism insurance pricing for most policyholders, blunting "any short-term increase in pricing that may have been caused by the law's temporary lapse," according to the Marsh LLC 2015 Terrorism Risk Insurance Report. However, the uncertainty of TRIA's reauthorization did lead to a slightly lower takeup rate for insurance policies in 2014, totaling 59 percent, which is lower than 62 percent in 2013 and 2012. Renewal of TRIA in January 2015 was a major victory for PIA.
