Legislation to resolve the nation's asbestos problem is likely to fail, according to Maurice Greenberg, CEO of American International Group (AIG). Greenberg told analysts at an investment conference last week that a bill filed by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to set up a $108 billion trust fund paid for by asbestos manufacturers and their insurers, to compensate victims of exposure, is not likely to pass.
