If you think you're in greater danger driving in urban areas as opposed to rural areas, you're wrong. According to a government report on traffic fatalities, 42 percent more fatal crashes occur in rural than urban areas. The report was released as a statistical abstract by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
