Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine has pulled out of the race for lieutenant governor. Instead, he will seek a fourth term as insurance commissioner. He was the first to declare his candidacy for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor last May. In a letter to Governor Sonny Perdue, Oxendine said he could have greater impact by staying put rather than running for a position "which has devolved into an ineffectual office over the past few years."
