Willis Group Holdings has reported a 51 percent decline in net income for the first quarter, and said it will eliminate 500 positions throughout the company as it adjusts to operating without contingent commissions. The employee cuts amount to 4 percent of Willis' workforce and will cost the firm $28 million in severance, according to Joe Plumeri, Willis chairman and chief executive officer.
