Ernie Csiszar will resign on September 30 as president and chief executive officer of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). The unexpected announcement followed by several days the announcement that PCI had reversed a decision to join ProtectingAmerica.org, an advocacy group backed by Allstate that is advocating for a federal backstop for insured catastrophes. Earlier this month, PCI announced with much fanfare that it was joining ProtectingAmerica.org. A statement issued by PCI said Csiszar "indicated that he plans to pursue a variety of personal and professional interests." Csiszar, a former South Carolina insurance commissioner, was midway through a term as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) two years ago when left to head PCI.
