We are approaching the finish line of PIA's first-ever Political Involvement and Advocacy Month - but there's still time to take part in the race!

PIA has proclaimed August as a month-long period of political involvement devoted to enhanced in-district lobbying of federal lawmakers and candidates. While August 9 served as one focal point for this effort, the entire month has been designated as PIA Month for Congressional contacts and political involvement. Already, hundreds of PIA members across the country have taken action. PIA member meetings are planned for the rest of the month, but it's not too late for you to do your part.

Is your Member of Congress holding a town hall meeting? Attend, and make it clear that Professional Insurance Agents oppose optional federal charters. Is your Senator holding a campaign event? Go, and remind them to vote "no" on the National Insurance Act of 2006. Is a Congressional challenger holding a meet-and-greet? Attend, and tell them if they make it to Capitol Hill, you expect them to vote against the federalization of insurance regulation. Learn more about how you can participate in PIA Month here.

We realize that some PIA members won't be able to do in-person meetings, so we've posted a message that you can send to those Members of Congress you can't visit, right from your computer. Just log on to PIA National's Online Grassroots Action Center.

Thank you for getting involved in this groundbreaking campaign to use the August Congressional recess to energize federal lobbying on behalf of Main Street Agents, by bringing Capitol Hill to Your Backyard.
