Donna Pile, along with PIA National staff, will be attending the NAIC Summer Meeting which takes place May 31 through June 2.

PIA's primary message at this meeting will be: Modernize the state producer licensing system now! Pile is a member of NAIC President-elect Roger Sevigny's NAIC/Industry Producer Licensing Coalition. Pile will convey PIA's appreciation for the hard work the NAIC has put into this effort so far.

"Under the leadership of President Praeger and NIPR board members, Commissioners Sevigny and Voss, we have made great progress over the past few years and now is the time to get it done," Pile said.

Several other key items will be discussed at this meeting, including natural catastrophe proposals. Earlier this year, PIA National President Robert Page participated on an NCOIL panel to discuss a national natural catastrophe plan; and the PIA National Natural Catastrophe Working Group has been reviewing the various proposals that have been advanced. The regulators will be meeting several times to discuss these various Nat Cat proposals, including several bills in Congress along with efforts in the states and industry plans.

The NAIC/Legislative Liaison Committee will meet to discuss how legislators and regulators can work together to strengthen state regulation. These discussions will include an update on the interstate compact and other ways to help avoid further federal interference.

The regulators will meet to discuss risk retention groups and crop insurance, including a consideration of the creation of Specific Crop Adjuster Licensing and Continuing Education Requirements and an update on anti-rebate bulletins.
