What's it like run an insurance agency while raising three young sons on your own?  Past PIA National President Donna Pile shares her story in an article she wrote which appears in American Agent & Broker magazine. Donna talks about her decision more than 30 years ago to enter the business, going to work in a small agency owned by her father in Lexington, Kentucky. She would later purchase the agency and also become increasingly active in PIA, first in Kentucky then at PIA National. Donna was the first woman in the history of PIA to serve on the national executive committee, becoming the first female president of PIA National.

"From the moment I walked into PIA National as the national director from Kentucky, I was welcomed, mentored, and encouraged to participate," Donna writes. "It was invigorating. The support came from all corners of the country. When I finally reached the year of my presidency it was a career highlight and a humble privilege to give back to my industry in service to my fellow agents. I was the first woman to serve as president of PIA National.  It was certainly a proud moment for the little lady from Kentucky."

You can read Donna's complete article here.  There are also two other PIA articles running in the magazine this month. One is an article by PIA National President Kenneth R. Auerbach, Esq., tracing the history of his own agency. The other is a short history of PIA from 1931 to the present that appears as a section of an article about many other insurance associations.
