At its winter meeting on December 7, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) elected officers for 2010. West Virginia Insurance Commissioner Jane Cline is the new president of the NAIC.

Meeting in closed session at the association's winter national meeting, NAIC members formally elevated Cline, who served as president-elect in 2009. Iowa Insurance Commissioner Susan Voss is the new president-elect after serving as vice president. Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty is the new vice president; he was secretary-treasurer in 2009. Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland, chairwoman of the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs Committee, was elected secretary-treasurer.

Also elected was Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Thomas Sullivan as chair of the Northeastern Zone, Illinois Insurance Director Michael McRaith as chair of the Midwestern Zone, South Carolina Insurance Director Scott Richardson as chair of the Southeastern Zone, and Alaska Commerce, Community & Economic Development Director Linda Hall as chair of the Western Zone. The NAIC approved its 2010 budget, estimating revenue and expenses at $74 million and $71 million, respectively.
