Last week, PIA National launched a nationwide Grassroots Action Alert asking PIA members to contact their members of Congress and urge that they:

  • Extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
  • Oppose repeal of the McCarran-Ferguson Act for health and medical malpractice
  • Include agents in healthcare reform bills

In 24 hours of PIA's grassroots campaign, over 1,600 individual letters and email messages to Congress were sent by PIA members! This kind of advocacy helps to advance good legislation and improve bad legislation.

"I would like to personally thank all of the PIA members throughout the country who are engaged in the political process at this critical time," said PIA National President Jon Spalding. "The more messages PIA members send to Congress, the more influence our PIA National representatives have when they meet with lawmakers. Grassroots involvement is the fuel that powers PIA's advocacy. We need to continue this level of involvement."
