Both the U.S. Senate and the House have adjourned, allowing members to campaign for re-election. Members are slated to return November 15 for a lame duck session. Several insurance-related bills that have not seen final action could conceivably see action, however attention to major bills - such as appropriations and defense authorization - may mean that insurance bills won't be taken up. Still pending are bills concerning the coverage of wind damage in the NFIP, the taxation of off-shore reinsurance, the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers Reform Act of 2010 and the Risk Retention Modernization Act of 2010. PIA supports the NARAB II bill and opposes bills to add wind coverage to the NFIP.
