The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) elected their new 2011 officers during their annual meeting in Austin, Texas. Representative George Keiser (ND) takes over as President after a successful year of leadership under Representative Robert Damron (KY). Senator Carroll Leavell (NM) is now President-elect; Senator Vi Simpson (IN) is now Vice President; Representative Charles Curtiss (TN) is now Secretary; and Representative Greg Wren was elected Treasurer. President Keiser said he looks forward to working with NAIC President Susan Voss (IA) to continue efforts to strengthen state regulation. During a meeting on health exchanges, Commissioner Voss presented Representative Keiser with an Iowa Hawkeye shirt and said she looks forward to receiving something from North Dakota. PIA is encouraged by the excellent working relationship between the two leaders.

The Industry Education Council (IEC) to NCOIL also elected their officers. The main purpose of the IEC is to educate state legislators. More than 100 private sector organizations, including PIA, are members.  The new IEC Chair is Barbara Peterson, from Assurant; the Vice Chair is David Eppstein, from PIA National; the Secretary is Larry Diehl, from Larry Diehl Regulatory Services and the Treasurer is Neil Aldridge, from NAMIC.
