Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman (R) has appointed Bruce Ramge as the acting director of the state's Department of Insurance. Ramge is a member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' (NAIC's) Market Analysis Working Group and chairs the NAIC Market Conduct Examination Standards Working Group. Ramge succeeds Ann Frohman, who announced in late August that she would leave her post October 29. She has since joined Physicians Mutual Insurance Co. in Omaha. Ramge has been with the state's Department of Insurance market conduct division since 1984.

"Bruce has been a close contact for the PIA and has been attending a lot of our functions over the years and has been most helpful for all agents in resolving all questions," said PIA of Nebraska Legislative Coordinator Joe Elliot in a statement. "We look forward to working closely with Bruce and wish him the best of success."

Outgoing Connecticut Gov. Jodi M. Rell has named an acting insurance commissioner at the state Department of Insurance. Barbara C. Spear succeeds Thomas R. Sullivan, who notified Rell, a Republican, earlier this month that he would resign from the post effective November 12.
