David L. Miller, former Administrator of the Iowa Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, will join the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on September 26, 2011, as the Associate Administrator for Federal Insurance and Mitigation.

Dave has first-hand experience working with mitigation and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the many floods and disasters that have impacted Iowa over the last decade," said FEMA Administrator W. Craig Fugate. "Dave will be working to ensure that mitigation remains elevated to an appropriate level of importance through the agency, to reform the National Flood Insurance Program in line with the recommendations gathered over the last several years, and to effectively communicate risk for our citizens in harm's way."
