On Thursday November 8, PIA issued an analysis of the 2012 election results, from the perspective of what the results mean to Professional Insurance Agents. Topping the list: as a result of the election, implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will continue. We also assess likely tax reform proposals, the renewal of the Farm Bill, the expected push to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and a renewed focus on natural disaster legislation following Tropical Cyclone Sandy. The analysis also takes a look at how the results impacted our key allies in the House and the Senate.

“The results of this election vividly illustrate the importance of involvement in the political process on the part of the members of PIA,” our analysis concludes. “While there may be much disappointment with many of the results, it is important to note that the contacts that PIA members and the national PIA lobbying staff have built on Capitol Hill will serve us well in what may be difficult days ahead regarding our issues.”
